Our Sustainability Promise

Our Sustainability Promise

Framberry is being built to be a genuinely responsible business — thoughtful about where our coffee, fruit and matcha come from, and serious about cutting waste from beans to cups. We open in London in 2027, so much of this is a promise we’re putting in writing now and intend to be held to. We’d rather be honest about what’s still in progress than overclaim, so this page lays out what we’re committing to and where we’ve got further to go.

Sourcing we can stand behind

A wellness brand should care where its ingredients come from. Our commitments:

  • Coffee — speciality beans, ethically sourced through our roaster, with traceability and fair treatment of growers as a baseline, not a bonus.
  • Matcha — ceremonial-grade Japanese matcha from a quality-focused supply chain, chosen for how it’s grown as well as how it tastes.
  • Fruit — real fruit for our smoothies, with seasonal and regional sourcing wherever it makes sense, to cut food miles and support quality.
  • Milk — oat and coconut milk as standard. Plant-based milks generally carry a lower environmental footprint than dairy, which is one more reason they’re our default rather than an upsell.

As we finalise supplier relationships ahead of launch, we’ll name our partners here — transparency is part of the brand.

Cutting waste

Drinks shops can generate a lot of single-use waste. We’re designing to avoid as much of it as we can:

  • Reusables first — drink in and we’ll serve you in proper crockery and glassware. We’d always rather you stayed.
  • Better takeaway packaging — where takeaway cups and lids are needed, we’re committing to recyclable or compostable options, and we’ll be upfront about what each item is and how to dispose of it.
  • Bring-your-own welcome — bring a reusable cup and we’ll happily fill it.
  • Food and fruit waste — smart prep, sensible portioning, and routes for surplus and fruit waste (composting and food-redistribution partnerships) rather than landfill.
  • The pineapples — our signature Piña Colada is served in a real, hollowed-out pineapple. The flesh goes into drinks, and we’re committed to composting the shells rather than binning them.

Energy, water and the everyday

The unglamorous details add up. We’re factoring energy-efficient equipment, sensible water use, and responsible cleaning products into how each site is fitted and run. Where a location’s energy can be sourced from renewables, we’ll aim to do that.

Honesty over greenwashing

We won’t slap “eco” on things to make them sound better than they are. Some parts of running a drinks business — refrigeration, deliveries, takeaway packaging — have a real footprint, and pretending otherwise would go against everything Framberry stands for. Our approach is to make genuine, specific commitments, measure how we’re doing once we’re open, and tell you honestly where we’re succeeding and where we still have work to do. If we fall short, we’d rather say so and fix it.

Inclusivity is part of it, too

Sustainability isn’t only environmental. A business that lasts is one that treats its people and its community well — fair, friendly employment, and a space that genuinely welcomes everyone, whatever their diet, faith, age or number of legs. That’s woven through what Framberry stands for.

Frequently asked questions

Is Framberry sustainable?

Framberry is being built around responsible sourcing and low waste — ethically sourced coffee, quality matcha, plant-based milks as standard, and recyclable or compostable takeaway packaging. We open in 2027 and will report honestly on our progress.

What does Framberry do about cup waste?

We serve drink-in orders in reusable crockery and glassware, welcome your own reusable cup, and are committing to recyclable or compostable takeaway cups and lids where single-use is needed.

Why does Framberry use oat and coconut milk as standard?

Plant-based milks generally have a lower environmental footprint than dairy, and they taste great — so they’re our default rather than an upsell. Whole milk is available if you prefer it.

What happens to the pineapples from the Piña Colada?

The flesh goes into drinks, and we’re committed to composting the hollowed-out shells rather than sending them to landfill.

We’re building Framberry to be responsible from day one — honestly, not as a slogan. Learn more about what we stand for, or join the list for our 2027 London opening.
